Obituary for Archie Queen Jr.

Archie Queen, Jr. 87, of Hobe Sound, FL passed away at Treasure Coast Hospice-Harper House in Stuart, FL. He was born in Hobe Sound to the parents of the late Archie Queen, Sr. and the late Minnie Powell-Queen on August 14, 1927. Archie attended the public schools of Martin County. He was employed as a grounds keeper for private homes on Jupiter Island. He served his country in the United States Navy, fought during World War II and was honorably discharged. Archie was a member of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Hobe Sound, FL (Gomez). Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by: brothers, Charles, Harold and Willie Queen; and sisters, Mable Rucker and Ana Flemings. He leaves to cherish precious memories: a loving son, Kevin Queen (Ada) of Hobe Sound, FL; a devoted daughter, Delores Queen-Kornagay of West Palm Beach, FL; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will dearly miss him. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015, from5pm-7pm at Thorne's Mortuary Chapel. A celebration of his life will be held at 11am New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Hobe Sound on Saturday, January 24, 2015. Burial will follow at Banner Lake Cemetery in Hobe Sound. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
