Obituary for Antonio L. Shy Pastor

On January 2, 1961, in Jacksonville, Florida, the lives of Rance and Gwendolyn Shy was blessed with an adorably handsome son, which they named Antonio. He was educated in the public schools of Trenton, New Jersey and graduated from Trenton High School. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on April 5, 1972. In July 1980, he answered the call of the Lord to the ministry. Pastor Shy earned his Associates, Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Religious Education from Pleroma Bible College, Inc.; affiliated with the Christian Council on Education, Inc. After a rigorous course of study he also earned his Chaplain Certificate from the United Chaplain State of New York, Inc.(an organization that is registered with The Supreme Court of New York). In 1978, he met the love of his life, and in 1982 he mustered up enough courage to ask for her hand in marriage. The Word of God was truly fulfilled in Pastor Shy's life for it is written in Proverbs 18:22, "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord." This blessing is none other than Lady Christina Shy. On October 1, 1983 they were united in Holy Matrimony, and let the record show that Lady Christina Shy has exemplified unparalleled love and faithfulness to her husband and truly has been the love and backbone of his life. Pastor Shy has served in several capacities in his church including Junior Pastor and Pastor. He was an ordained Elder in the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He served as assistant pastor at Good Shepherd Church in Wrightstown, New Jersey, and at the time of his demise he was Pastor of Beulah Refuge Church of God in Christ Jesus, Inc. On August 6, 2009 he peacefully and quietly went home to be with the Lord at his home, surrounded by the love of his caring family. Pastor Antonio L. Shy is survived by his wife: the love of his life for 25 years, Christina; two daughters, Arielle and Dominique; a son, Daniel; a grandson, Alonzo; his parents, Rance and Gwendolyn Shy; three brothers, Tyrone (Dani), Willie (Kathy), and Rance Eric; three sisters, Shelia (Bernard), Charsetta and Gale (Jerry); mother-in-law, Mary McCree; sister-in-law, Eloise (Elton)Shaw; brother-in-law, Joe (Tammy); two godsisters, Evelyn Woods and Cheryl Gertie Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, including Bishop John A. Thorne (Anne); godchildren, as well as many extended family members and friends. Services: Viewing will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2009 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Beulah Church of God in Christ Jesus, Inc.,956 Marcy Avenue in Brooklyn, New York 11216.
