Mother Annie Laura Johnson, 85, a resident of Vero Beach, FL peacefully went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 30, 2020 in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love and tears of her devoted family.
She was born to Queen Esther Cooper on July 16, 1935 in Hurtsboro, AL and received her primary education in the public schools of her birth.
Ms. Johnson moved to Indian River County from Alabama and has been a resident there since 1950. Before retirement, she was gainfully employed as a custodian for the Indian River School District. She was a member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Wabasso, FL and has served faithfully as the Church Mother, assisted with the Youth Department, served on the Usher Board, and was a Missionary.
Mother Johnson will forever be remembered as a pleasant person, who loved the Lord, her family and people in general. She was easy to love and get along with and the sunny smile that she had could light up your darkest day.
Along with her mother, she was also preceded in death by her children: Queen E. Colley, Michael Bernard Johnson, Marion Zone and James H. Colley; siblings, Eddie C. Carter, Ethel Weaver and Daisy Gilbert; and her husband, Franklin Johnson, Sr.
Remaining behind to mourn her passing and celebrate her homegoing are: 2 sons, Roger Colley Of West Palm beach, FL and Franklin Johnson, Jr. (Vickie) of Vero Beach, FL; 3 daughters, Adriana Chambers (Jesse), Bobbie Taylor and Avril Flemming (Stendval, all of Vero Beach, FL; 2 sisters, Dorothy Scott of Sebastian, FL and Ilonia Edwards of St. Petersburg, FL; 22 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; a godchild, Sara Jones of St. Petersburg, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, church family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
