Alvin Scott, 71 of Indian River County went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 2, 2016, at VNA Hospice in Vero Beach, FL. He was born in Tifton, GA to the parents of the late Albert and Lucy B. Scott on July 23, 1945. He was educated in the schools of Cleveland, OH and graduated from Cleveland High School. Before retirement, he was gainfully employed as a truck driver for a produce company. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Henry, Mervin, David and Jonah Scott; 2 sisters, Marjorie Hampton and Maryneall Hicks; and a son, Willie Stanley Jefferson. Survivors include: a loving wife, Mother Dorothy Scott of Sebastian, FL; 3 sons, Alvin Lee Scott, Jr., Mervin Scott (Terri) and Michael Scott; 3 daughters, Garnetha Williams (Willie), Lisa Bradley (Scott) and Tamia Scott, all of Cleveland, OH; 2 nieces, Mykeal and Natalliyah, who are being raised as his children whom he loved and adored so much; 23 grandchildren including a grandson, Deacon Terry Wallace (Zenobia LaShay,)who was so faithful and dedicated to his care and never complained no matter what time of day or night that his assistance was needed; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Oscar and Obie Scott of Cleveland, OH; 2 sisters, Mary Royal of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Barbara Williams (Robert) of Cleveland, OH; 3 sisters-in-law, Ilonia Edwards of St. Petersburg, FL, Ethell Weaver of Tallahassee, FL and Annie Johnson of Wabasso, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 5pm-7pm at the Upper Room Temple in Wabasso, FL. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the church, 11am, with Elder Darryl Lovett officiating and Elder Joe Jones, Jr. is the pastor. Burial will follow at West Wabasso Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
