Obituary for Alice Mae Rawlinson

Alice Mae Rawlinson, 75 of Vero Beach, FL peacefully departed this life at her residence, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born to the parents of John Roberts and Callie Davis Roberts in Montgomery, AL. She received her education at Montgomery Academy in Alabama. Affectionately known as "Big Gurl", Mrs. Rawlinson was employed at Huntington College for 25 years as a culinary artist. She moved to Vero Beach, FL over 25 years ago. She was amember of Community Deliverance Temple under the leadership of Elder C.D. Weems and later joined the Church of Christ in Vero Beach under the leadership of Brother Timothy Bradley, serving faithfully until Christ called her home. She was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Callie Roberts; her first husband, Ollie Harris, Sr.; a daughter, O'Lenda Young; a son, Bruce Harris; a sister, Johnnie Mae Grimes; and 3 brothers, Freeman Davis, Bob Roberts, Bo Davis and others. Left behind to cherish precious memories are: her husband, Algie Rawlinson of Prattville, AL; 1 son Ollie Harris, Jr. of Montgomery, AL; 2 daughters, Sarah Massey (Frank) and Romona Hurst (Reginald) both of Vero Beach, FL; 7 sisters, Claudia Williams (Floyd) of Montgomery, AL, Johnnie Lee Roberts of Vero Beach, FL, Jackie Hall and Dempry Haley of Lownesboro, AL, Rosie Mason of Whitehall, AL, Elizabeth Roberts and Mary Davis (Ike) of Boston, MA; 3 brothers, Monroe Roberts (Chris) and Albert Roberts of Montgomery, AL and James Roberts (Edna) of Fort Walton Beach, FL; 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 1 goddaughter, Jamie Tierney; a loving niece, Dorothy LaRose; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 4pm-6pm at the Church of Christ, 3306 20th Street in Vero Beach, FL. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011, 11am at the church with Bro. Edward Holmes officiating.
