Obituary for Alexander "Jitterbug" Oliver Sr.

Mr. Alexander "Jitterbug" Oliver, Sr. 86 of Indiantown, Fl exchanged time for eternity in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love of his family on Friday November 14,2014. He was born in Savannah, GA to the late Roosevelt Oliver and Lillie Mae Williams-Oliver. He received his primary education in Savannah at the Cuylen Street School. Before relocating to Indiantown as a young man he began working with the railroad as a water boy where he received the nickname, "Jitterbug". Through hard work and dedication he worked his way up through the ranks to become a supervisor with the Railroad industry, retiring in that position. Traveling the coastal railways he met, Ms. Cora B. Logan later marrying to produce 3 children. In later years he met Annie Pearl Jackson and in the year of 1961 they were married in holy matrimony being blessed with 5 children to their union. He was a faithful member of Alpha and Omega Church until his health began to decline and would not permit him to attend services regularly. Along with his wife, Annie Pearl Oliver and parents he was preceded in death by 2 siblings, Frank Oliver and Geraldine Hampton. He leaves to cherish his legacy: 2 sons, Ardis Jackson (Henrietta) and Alexander Oliver both of Indiantown, FL; 6 Daughters, Audrey Smith (Leroy) and Pamela Oliver both of Savannah, GA, Joyce Sirmons (Thomas) of Ft. Pierce, FL, Sylvia Lawrence (Samuel) of Miami, FL, Denise Bens (Herbert) of Stuart,FL and Jackie Williams (Milton) of Savannah, GA; A special Grandson and caregiver, Albert Oliver of Indiantown, FL. Services: Visitation will be held Friday November 21 from 5-7PM at Evergreen First Baptist Church, 14703 SW 169TH avenue, Indiantown, FL, Service of celebration will be held Saturday November 22, 1PM at the same location. Burial will follow at Port Mayaca Cemetery, Port Mayaca, FL Professional arrangements have been placed into the care of Thorne's Mortuary of Stuart, FL
