Mrs. Alene W. Counts, 85 of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Plantation General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She was born on March 20, 1931 in Talbot County, GA. Her primary and secondary education was completed in Talbot County. After moving to Charlotte, NC she earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Carver College on June 2, 1955. On August 25, 1956 she married Claude Counts,the love of her life. This union was blessed with four beautiful children namely, Ricardo E., Charles Nathaniel, Claudia L. and Darryl E. Counts. In 1959 they moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL where she became a member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church. She was gainfully employed by the Broward County School District. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Nathaniel Counts, I (in March, 2016), and a brother, Arthur Whiteside. Although she preceded her loving husband in death, sadly he passed away on July 15, 2016 just three days after she did. Remaining behind to cherish precious memories are: 2 sons, Ricardo E. Counts (Cynthia) of San Antonio, TX, Darryl E. Counts (Wanda) of Miramar, FL; an only daughter, Claudia L. Counts of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Effie Belk (Gurlester) of Riviera Beach, FL and Lillian Morris (John) of Charlotte and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 5pm-9pm at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church; address: 318 NW 6th Avenue Fort Lauderdale, FL. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2016 at 11:am. Burial will take place at The South Florida National Cemetery - 6501 State Rd 7 in Lake Worth, FL 33449. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of there family's funeral home, Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
