On January 21, 1923 in Newville, Alabama, Cora Lee Walker was the first born child of John Ed and Eva Spinks Walker.
Cora was educated in the public school systems in Newville and Dothan, Alabama. The family later relocated to Spillway, Florida.
She was gainfully employed by the late Chez Boye family and later employed by the Hobart Corporation for many years until retirement.
Mrs. Cora Lee Barber Smith departed this life on Monday, January 28, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Ed and Eva S. Walker Merricks; her sons, Johnny and Albert Barber, Jr.; brothers, Willie, Joseph and Arthur James Walker; sisters, Dorothy N. Jackson and Nina C. Cobb.
Cherishing loving memories of her life and service are her two daughters, Mable Crews Snowden, Somerset, NJ and Brenda Jenkins Booker, Atlanta, GA; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grand- children, 9 great-great-grand- children, a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other sorrowing relatives and friends.
Services: Visitation to be held on Saturday, February 10, 2013 from 9:00am-11:00am at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Gifford, FL. A homegoing celebration of life will begin 11:00am at the church on Saturday, with the pastor Reverend Willie Richardson, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery in Gifford, FL.
