Dessie Calloway Flowers, 92, of Vero Beach, FL went home to be with the Lord at Indian River Medical Center on December 12, 2012.
She was born in Colquitt, GA to the parents of Elijah and Bessie Robertson Calloway on October 10, 1920.
As a child she moved to Indian River County with her family where she received her primary education.
She was a domestic worker earlier in life and a member of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Wabasso, FL.
Ms. Dessie was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Bessie Robertson Calloway; her husband, Warren Flowers; a son, Charlie Battles, Jr.; 3 sisters, Mattie Singleton, Jennie Jones and Lucy Flowers.
Survivors include: 2 daughters, Pearlie Mae Anderson of Wabasso, FL and Karen Rivers (Darrell) of Vero Beach, FL; a sister, Lottie Williams of Cocoa, FL; 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grand- children and 32 great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives including, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 4pm-7pm at the Wabasso Church of God in Wabasso, FL. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, 11:00am at the church with Reverend H. C. Turner officiating. Burial will follow at West Wabasso Cemetery in Wabasso, FL.
